Last Wednseday a ravaging fire destroyed one of Italy's premier climbing wall manufacturers Ecogrips, the climbing shop Vertical Sport, and the climbing wall Action House in Trento, northern Italy.

In less than an hour the fire spread through the building, demolishing five years of hopes and dreams. First estimates speak of damages amounting to Euro 2.5 million - an enormity for those who know who difficult it is to invest in this sector.

As local climber Rolando Larcher puts it "this first true meeting point in the will be sorely missed".
