The North Face Kalymnos Climbing Festival 2014

All is set for ready for the third edition of The North Face Kalymnos Climbing Festival. The event will bring together climbers and the legends of this sport to celebrate climbing worldwide. These legendary climbers, widely recognised as the early pioneers of modern sports climbing, will join a series of other athletes for this full-on 4 day meeting. The climbers include the likes of John Dunne (United Kingdom), Jean-Baptiste Tribout (France), Yuji Hirayama (Japan), Beat Kammerlander (Austria), Maurizio 'Manolo' Zanolla (Italy), Gerhard Hörhager (Austria) and Patxi Arocena (Spain).

The North Face Kalymnos Climbing Festival is packed with activities that include the traditional Climbing Marathon Competition open to climbers of all abilities, a Legends Story Teller Night, a party by the sea and a boat trip with The North Face athletes. The sun, breathtaking limestone climbs, sweeping views across sea along with the best athletes in the world will create that same unique atmosphere that hallmarked the first two editions.

What's more, this year the festival includes a new The North Face called from "1 climber = 1 bolt": for each registered participant, The North Face will replace an old bolt on one of the island's existing routes with a ne one. The replacement of potentially dangerous bolts is in line with The North Face and it's athletes' aim to "give something back" to the island and its community; further improving the quality of the routes means that for years to come climbers will be able to climb in safety.

The North Face Kalymnos Climbing Festival takes place on the sunny island of Kalymnos, Greece, from 9 to 12 October 2014. For the third year running the event will be partnered with JEEP.
