Where to climb this year
As in the last edition, there will be some new areas, but with a view to restoring the existing ones, it was decided to give new life to the Mota sector, located close to the town of San Martino. The area is located approximately 200 m as the crow flies from the Melloblocco village; here you will find blocks suitable for every level, in a quiet and relaxing place. In addition to the Mota there will also be climbing in the Visido area; Here too, a restyling of some paths is planned, to make a circular route that will connect the various bouldering areas this year more accessible. To reach Visido you will need to walk a little further than the Mota, but the variety and quantity of boulders you will find will make you forget the time it takes to reach them!
Where to park in the valley
- All those staying in the valley's facilities (hotels, B&Bs, campsites, etc.) have free reserved parking spaces. This service is provided by the individual Tour Operator of Val Masino.
- There will be the possibility of parking for free in Cataeggio, the first village in the Val Masino valley that you reach driving up the SP9 (see parking map on the site).
- A shuttle service will be available connecting Cataeggio to the Melloblocco Village in San Martino.
- In the entire upper part of Val Masino (Sasso Remenno and the Visido area, included) parking is subject to a fee with a daily rate of €10.00.
- in the Bregolana area (immediately after San Martino, continue for about 1km up the SP9 towards Bagni di Masino), there is a private area with a parking meter that can accommodate up to 100 vehicles, daily rate 7 euros.
Where not to park in the valley
It is strictly forbidden to park outside the official car parks (see above). In particular, we would like to point out that parking is not permitted in any way on the road that leads from Cataeggio to San Martino.
Shuttle bus between Cataeggio and San Martino
A shuttle service will be available connecting Cataeggio to the Melloblocco Village in San Martino. Times: 9.30am, 11am, 3pm and 5pm. Furthermore, two additional trips are planned, one at 8.00 pm which goes up from Cataeggio, and one at 11.00 pm which goes down from San Martino.
Val di Mello
As always, the road leading from San Martino up into Val di Mello is closed to traffic, with the exception of those staying overnight at the Ground Jack campsite. To reach Val di Mello we therefore recommend taking the beautiful path that starts from the San Martino Sports Center and weaves its way along the Mello river. Currently the path leading off from the church at San Martino is closed. Allow for about twenty minutes.
Bagni di Masino
The road to Bagni di Masino is currently closed and will probably remain closed during the days of the event as well.
WHERE TO SLEEP
Camp sites for tents are all full in all of Val Masino, including the San Martino sports field. There are currently some places at Ardenno. We remind you that camping outside the designated camping areas is strictly prohibited. For parking spaces for cars/vans for overnight parking, check out the parking map on the official website or write to camping@melloblocco.it
