The first Chamonix Mountain Festival will be held at Chamonix in France from 1 - 8 June 2013.
Chamonix increasingly at the centre of alpinism this June: at the start of the month the small French town at the foot of Mont Blanc will host the first Chamonix Mountain Festival. As is self-evident from its name, the Chamonix Mountain Festival is an international meeting for alpinists, skiers and climbers who want to meet up, climb and ski together and share ideas and mountain experiences.
The event, organised by mountaineers for mountaineers, lasts a week from 1 - 8 June and costs a mere 60 euro per day: this includes accommodation, food and lift tickets. After the days out in the mountains, the festival continues with film (by award-winning british mountaineer Andy Perkins for example) and lectures (Sandy Allan will retrace the historic first traverse of the Mazeno Ridge on Nanga Parbat). Furthermore, gear will be provided by the best outdoor companies such as Arc'teryx and Grivel to name but two. There is no age limit and no climbing grade limit, everyone is invited from beginners to experts alike.
Talking about Arc'teryx and Chamonix, it's worth remembering that from 14 - 16 June the Arc'teryx Alpine Arcademy takes place; this 3 day event gives everyone the chance to improve their climbing and mountaineering techniques under the watchful eyes of Mountain Guides, athletes and experts at a truly discounted price.
