In the Junior men’s Speed championship 19-year-old Iaroslav Pashkov of Russia took the win, defending his title as a Speed Youth World Champion after having also won a gold medal at the 2019 Youth World Championships. Pashkov cruised into the final in first position after a stellar qualification round, besting his teammate Danila Ukolov (18) by just 0.09 seconds in the closing race with a time of 5.80 seconds. On home soil, Pashkov and Ukolov climbed onto the podium in first and second place, respectively.

In a bid to win the final podium position, Austria’s Lawrence Bogeschdorfer (18) beat Italy’s Jacopo Stefani (19) by 0.03 seconds in a neck-and-neck finish. Bogeschdorfer therefore took the bronze medal, with 2017 Speed gold medallist Stefani following in fourth place.

After placing fourth in the Junior women’s Speed qualification round, 18-year-old Franziska Ritter of Germany came out on top in the final, stopping the clock at 7.73 seconds. Racing against Ritter was Italy’s Giulia Randi (18), who fell and thus settled for a successful second place, matching her qualification round ranking. Capucine Viglione (18) of France completed the podium in third place, having taken the top spot in the qualification round. Viglione fell in the ½ final and as such, competed against Iran’s Mahya Darabian (19) in the small final for third and fourth position, respectively.

Silver medallist of the 2019 Speed Youth World Championships – 18-year-old Kiara Pellicane-Hart of the USA – finished her 2021 campaign in seventh place, missing out on a second medal. Her 2019 podium-mate Anna Calanca (17), of Italy, placed thirteenth.

Team Russia added another medal to their tally in the Youth A men’s Speed championship, with 17-year-old Maksim Ryzhov triumphing over Ukraine’s Hryhorii Ilchyshyn (16) in the final and taking the top podium position. Ilchyshyn, who previously held a Youth Speed title after achieving first place at the 2019 IFSC Youth World Championships in Arco, Italy, finished in second place. Italy’s Marco Rontini (16) took the bronze medal, having won the small final against 15-year-old Marius Payet Gaboriaud of France.

Beatrice Colli (16) of Italy was victorious in the Youth A women’s Speed final. With a time of 7.92 seconds, the Italian took the gold medal, maintaining her place at the top of the scoreboard after also placing first in the qualification round earlier on Saturday. 17-year-old Nuria Brockfield of Germany followed behind Colli in second place, defending her Speed ranking from the 2019 championships, where the athlete also achieved silver. Previous Youth Speed Champion Callie Close (16) closed her competition in third place, with Italy’s Sofia Bellesini (15) just missing out on the podium in fourth. Manon Lebon (16) of France, who won bronze in 2019, placed eighth.
