Ski mountaineering World Cup 2022: Emily Harrop, Oriol Cardona Coll win the Sprint in Val Martello
After Friday's Individual won by Axelle Gachet Mollaret and Davide Magnini, the "Grogg" biathlon centre in Val Martello, Italy, transformed yesterday into a venue worthy of an international Sprint ski mountaineering competition. The athletes were tested by fast sections on foot, spectacular curves and an impressive scenery in front of an audience that supported them from start to finish.
The lineup in the men's final was comprised of Matteo Favre (SUI), Oriol Cardona Coll (ESP), Nicoló Canclini (ITA), Iwan Arnold (SUI), Arno Lietha (SUI) and Inigo Martinez De Albornoz Marques (ESP). Cardona Coll took the lead from the outset and finished with a time of 3'08'', Matteo Favre placed second in 3'13'', while Arno Lietha completed the podium in 3'17''.
Emily Harrop from France won in 3'13'', ahead of Marianna Jagercikova from Slovakia and Lena Bonnel from France, second and third respectively.
Among the U23 there was a victory of Samantha Bertolina (ITA) and Matteo Favre (SUI), while in the U20 category the winners were Silvia Berra (ITA) and Robin Bussard (SUI).
The last stage of the Würth Modyf ISMF World Cup will take place during the first week of April n Flaine, France, with three races: Individual Race, Vertical and Sprint Race.
After concluding this year’s stage the local organising committee of the Marmotta Trophy is already considering hosting a stage in 2023.
