La Sportiva Legends Only, Adam Ondra wins in Stockholm
What happens when you take 5 extremely strong climbers, let them work some problems for two hours, give them a true rockstar entrance in an extra-large limousine and then let them loose in front of a crazed crows? The result is a truly masters competition, something which deserves its Legends only title.
This is exactly what happened the other day in Sweden's capital where Adam Ondra, Dmitry Sharafutdinov, Daniel Woods, Paul Robinson and Andy Gullsten battled it out on 5 problems graded between 7C+ and 8B/+ and invented by international route setter Chris Ellis together with Robert Rundin and Joakim Berglund.
So what happened? Ondra sent all five problems and got some revenge against Dmitry Sharafutdinov who beat him in July to become Boudlering World Champion, while the Americans Daniel Woods and Paul Robinson (both with numerous 8C problems under their fingers) shared third. Anthony Gullsten finished 5th but seeing that he's only 19 we're bound to hear more of him in the future.
The video of the competition is published below, uncut and more than an hour and a half. Certainly a fair whack, especially if your Swedish is a little rusty like ours! But if you've got a fast internet connection, we recommend you hit the fast forward button to check out these moments:
00:10:00 - The true rockstar exit from the limousine.
00:34:40 - Paul Robinson on the moving hold.
00:51:04 - Daniel Woods through the wave. Pure power.
01:06:30 - The incredible double dyno by Dmitry Sharafutdinov. Hard to believe unless you see it with your own eyes.
01:21:30 - Adam Ondra on the victory problem. Impossible for the others, for him a walk in the path.
