Janja Garnbret wins the La Sportiva Legends Only 2015
Right from the outset the Youth A Lead and Boulder World Champion proved to be not just one, but two cuts above the rest. England’s Coxsey attempted to stay in the running but in the end she managed to send just one other problem to finish second, while France’s Melissa Le Nevé placed third thanks to a top on boulder #4 where - with unseen grit and tenacity - she powered her way to the top despite being in serious difficulties right from the start.
Both Germany’s Juliane Wurm (reigning World Champion and European Champion) and Austria’s Anna Stöhr (double World Champion and double European Champion, and winner of 22 World Cups) failed to make any significant headway at Stockholm and neither in fact managed to send a single problem. In truth Wurm had announced she’d retire from international competitions a while back, and Stöhr is still recovering from a finger injury (and had one day less to try the problems since her flight from Innsbruck was cancelled due to bad weather), but these details really did take nothing away from the exciting and enticing competition, won by a truly incredible Janja Garnbret.
