Adam Ondra from the Czech Republic won the last stage of the Lead World Cup 2015 in Kranj, Slovenia this evening and, in doing so, won the overall standings. In an intense and exciting finale the Czech climber beat Canada’s Sean McColl and Austria’s Jakob Schubert, second and third respectively. France’s Gautier Supper, the man who had led the provisional ranking until this last act, suffered a major upset and, after unexpectedly slipping low down, finished 8th in Kranj to take silver, while Schubert took bronze.

In the women’s event Mina Markovic crowned off her outstanding season by winning in front of her home crowd and, consequently, winning the overall World Cup 2015. The 27-year-old fell off the same hold as Jessica Pilz but won on count back, while her 16-year-old teammate Janja Ganrbret placed an outstanding third. Jain Kim from Korea fell off the same hold as Garnbret to secure silver in the overall standings, while the bronze medal went to Pilz.
