Will Bosi is renowned for his steel fingers and the 24-year-old is widely recognised as one of the strongest of his generation. At Sklapsko in the Czech Republic the Scot has now flashed Charizard, an 8B+ block put up by local powerhouse Martin Stranik. Bosi received the beta from one of the best in the business, Adam Ondra, who celebrated with Bosi after his ascent; this is Bosi’s first 8B+ flash after having flashed three 8B’s in this style, Isle de encanta, 4X+1 and Svini Mor.

8B+ boulder flash has already been completed in the past, notably by Daniel Woods (Entlinge, Murgtal, Switzerland, 2011), Adam Ondra (Jade, Rocky Mountain National Park, 2015), Jimmy Webb (The Globalist, Finland, 2016) , Ned Feehally (Trust Issues, Rocklands, South Africa 2017), Jakob Schubert (Catalan Witness the Fitness at Cova de Ocell, Spain 2018, Never Ending Story at Magic Wood, Switzerland, 2020). 8C boulder flash has not yet been achieved.

Talking about things still in the making. It is somewhat unusual - unfortunately - that pro climbers travel to the Czech Republic and Bosi embarked on this journey for a very specific reason: to try Vasil Vasil, the third 9b+ in the world after Change at Flatanger in Norway and La Dura Dura at Oliana in Spain, put up by Adam Ondra in 2013 and so far unrepeated.

Bosi confirmed the reason for the trip and explained "Yes I have had one short session on it, I reckon I will need to work very hard to have a chance so decided to leave it for another trip. I think I’ll have one or two more days to try and get the moves done though before I leave! Very cool and underrated route I think."
