Rock climbing at Millstone, England
Alex Messenger
Millstone in England's Peak District hosts a fine and fierce selection of gritstone route including the bold arêtes Edge Lane and Master's Edge, the imposing corner Green Death and one of the country's most prized crack climbs, London Wall. First climbed back in 1975 by John Allen, it has lost none of its charm and bite and it was recently repeated by Tom Randall in trainers. Those wishing to take their trad skills into the E5 realm mustn't be fooled though: Randall had climbed the route over 30 times prior to this ascent and the line retains its awesome reputation for good reason.
P.S. Technical Master is a great little testpiece and Pete Whittaker's one-handed solo was first done back in 1980 by... yep, Johnny Dawes.
