Tom Briggs and Ben Heason add gritstone extremes
at the Roaches Ben Heason climbs Final Destination E8 6c, while at Black Rocks Tom Briggs adds The Devil is in the Details E7 7a
As mentioned just a few days ago, hard grit is in full swing with a string of bold first ascents. At Black Rocks (home of classic extremes such as Gaia E8 6c and Meshuga E9 6c), Tom Briggs has climbed The Devil is in the Details. Starting up the Pseudonym, it lurches up and right via a massive 2 meter plus dyno to a smooth pocket. A slap high above the size 2.5 and 4 friends in the break completes the line, which was tried for four days prior to the successful ascent. Suggested grade: E7 7a. And at the nearby Roaches Lower Tier, Ben Heason continues his quest for purity with Final Destination. Located between Piece of Mind and The Thin Air, Heason checked out the moves on toprope to then make a solo first ascent. E8 6c, in under 30 minutes!
