Solveig Korherr makes ecopoint repeat of Hotel Supramonte in Sardinia
Solveig Korherr is part of a growing number of climbers who, at times, opt against using planes or cars and instead travel to the climbing areas by public transport or bike. The so-called "ecopoint climbing" movement certainly requires more time, patience and organisation, but nothing is impossibile as the 25-year-old recently proved with her repeat of the famous 8b multipitch Hotel Supramonte.
Korherr and her climbing partner Luisa Lulu Deubzer spent two days travelling from Germany to Sardinia, taking trains, the ferry and then catching the bus to the campsite above the Gola di Goroppu gorge. They then invested three days working the route, and due to the long walk-in they spent a night on the wall on their portaledge. On day 4 Korherr felt ready for the redpoint attempt.
Korherr will remember the 30th of October for quite a while as she led all the pitches without taking a single fall, including the final 6b which many choose not to climb. After their ascent the pair returned to the campsite and hitchhiked on to Ulassai. But that's a different story.
