Over 800 climbers have signed up for Melloblocco 2005, the international bouldering meeting in Val di Mello from 7-8 may 2005.
![]() Melloblocco... it's on everyone's lips! The mega fantastic bouldering meet is Valle di Mello is less than 10 days away, and over 800 participants have signed up for the meet on 7-8 May 2005. More climbers are bound to join this second edition of the greatest bouldering competition in Europe, and Val di Mello will host climbers from a myriad of different nations. For those who still want to take part, we recommend you hurry: all the info you need for the two day event is available here. And for those who have already booked their ticket to the mellow Mello, here are some indispensable FAQ's to learn off by heart prior to the event. FAQ Melloblocco Is the Melloblocco open to all? Yes, everyone can participate. The hundreds of boulder problems are graded 4a to 8b in a 2km radius. There is enough rock (read fantastic granite) and problems to suit everyone's tastes. How many boulder problems are there? Simone Pedeferri, itogether with Cristian Gianatti and friends, has completed cleaning the splendid new problems, which can now be added to the 250+ problems set last year. For the insatiable, can they climb at night? Yes! During Saturday night's party at the Center there will be a band playing Deep Purple and a selection of illuminated boulders. How do you get to the boulders? Follow the access tracks that lead to the boulders. Do not wander aimlessly through the forest and across the fields. Which boulders can be climbed? Only those indicated on the map, given to you at the time of registration. Do not walk through open fields, in particular those that still need to be mown. Other than spotting the climbers and copying the best methods to send the problems, what else should you watch out for? Take care not to kill endangered flora and fauna!
