Dave MacLeod holds Breathless
Dave MacLeod from Scotland has made the third ascent of "Breathless" on Great Gable in the Lake District, England
Scottish Dave MacLeod has made the third ascent of "Breathless" on Great Gable in the Lake District, England. The route in question was first ascended by prolific climber John Dunne in 2000 and originally graded E10 7a. It had been repeated by Dave Birkett in 2004. MacLeod, one of Britain's most complete climbers (F8c, M12 and Font 8a+), spent two days checking out the route prior to his ascent, described on Planetfear as follows: "8a climbing above 4 bits of dubious gear: on one rope 2 RP's and a blue-tacked on sky hook are all 'OK', but on the other rope the single peg is crap."
