King Rock, the total rock climbing center opens its doors in Verona

The openening ceremony of the King Rock Climbing Center, the biggest indoor climbing wall in Italy, will take place on 10 October in Via Cà di Mazzè, Verona at 18.30. On Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 October the King Rock Climbing center will be open, free of charge, for two days of free climbing for all. Mountaineer and author Silvia Metzeltin will take part in the opening ceremony.
A new phenomenon has sprung to life in Verona. It is called King Rock and is the kingdom of climbing for everybody. King Rock is not only the largest dedicated indoor climbing wall in Italy, it is also one of the most complete in Europe. The numbers speak for themselves: the lead wall is between 12.5 and 14 meters high, has a total climbing surface of  100mq and 150 routes of all different grades and angles. This is an infinite playground which explores all terrains, from vertical faces to steep overhangs, from easy routes to extremely difficult problems. It is ideal for all needs and ages, from the climbing courses for beginners and schools to the maximum performances by top climbers and the possibility to prepare for ascents in the mountains. Furthermore, for those who love bouldering King Rock offers a fantastic selection of moves and walls of all shapes and sizes: 350 mq and more than 3000 holds to unleash the wildest imagination of all climbers, with pure fun being top of the agenda.

But there is more to come. This authentic climbing village is completed by an office for the Mountain Guides, a bar, a climbing shop, a conference hall, a Baby-Time service and all the comforts of a modern sports climbing center. King Rock is a unique location therefore to experience climbing as a sport in its own right and at the same time the center is a cultural reference marker and meeting point for all passionate climbers.

It didn’t come about by chance that the original idea stemmed from the experience of Nicola Tondini, Mountain Guide, Guides Instructor and Director of the Verona XMountain Guides, as well as operational engineer and extremely strong mountaineer with hard and beautiful first ascents to his name on the rock faces close to Verona and the Dolomites. Just as it didn’t come about by chance that this project, which in many respects represents the "summa" of what climbing is all about, was immediately brought to life by 30 passionate local climbers who created Verona Climb srl, the company which made the King Rock dream possible. This dream is now a reality, born from the passion for climbing and the desire to share this vertical dream with everyone.
