52-year-old Alessandro Jolly Lamberti repeats Egger 8c at Spiaggia Della Molpa a Palinuro, Italy
Sergio Morra

At New Year, aged 52, I managed to climb an 8c sports route again. A year beforehand I ruptured the tendon of my strongest finger. This recovery demonstrates how mental and emotional aspect, technique, coordination and in particular a “never give up” attitude are predominant compared to the purely physical aspect of climbing.

The route is called Egger and is located above the beautiful beach spiaggia della Molpa in Palinuro. It was bolted by Luca Passini, a member of the Ragni di Lecco, and first ascended by Stefano Ghisolfi in 2015. It is 35 meters high, and the last 15 meters climb past razor-sharp tiny edges, without any rests, to finish with a spectacular dyno.
