The number of apps, short for applications, designed specifically for sport climbing are on the the rise and this latest seems interesting: Climb Training, a program developed by Piero Amato and one of Italy's strongest sport climbers, Alessandro Jolly Lamberti.
Designed to be used with one of the most popular training tools, the Campus Board, this app presents a seris of videos, photos, exercises and, obviously, a stopwatch. In short, exercises are split into categories and ability level (6a-6c+, 7a-7b, 7b+-7c+, 8a and more) and the virtual trainer provides series and the all-important rest times before storing the results and publishing the statistics to display training gains.
The app is available in two languages, English and Italian, is currently compatible with Iphone, Ipad, Ipod touch, and can be acquired via Itunes at a symbolic price of 79 euro cents. Before downloading it and starting your next session we need to point out though that the Campus Board offers very intense and specific training and in April this year the British Mountaineering Council issued important Campus Board advice, aimed primarily at children and teenagers.
