Bendler adds 8c+ to Schleierwasserfall

Markus Bendler has made the first ascent of "Das Erbe der Väter" 8c+ at the Schleierwasserfall, Tyrol, Austria.
Markus Bendler from Austria has made the first ascent of "Das Erbe der Väter" 8c+ at the Schleierwasserfall, Tyrol. According to www.climbing.de, the route takes a 35m line on the left-hand side of the central sector and breaches a tricky roof which holds the crux.

Despite his young age the 21 year old has also made a series of hard first ascent, including "Gwagus Maximus" 9a, "Mongo" 9a and "Heinzelmann" 8c+ all at the same crag. He is without a doubt an all-round force to be reckoned with: at the start of 2005 he placed first in the International Ice Climbing Festival at Kandersteg, ahead of the likes of Harald Berger, Simon Wandeler and Isreal Blanco...
