The route in question had been first ascended in 1997 by French climbing aces Arnaud Petit and Stefanie Bodet on the east face of Grand Capucin, to the left if the original line up the 3838m high summit, the Bonatti route climbed by none other than Walter Bonatti and L. Ghigo in 1951.
