Alberto Gnerro has given us another 9a! Four years after his "Ground Zero" at Sarre (AO), the "Doctor" as he is known here in Italy has transformed into Hyde once more to make the first ascent of "SS 26" at Gressoney. The new route is 95 (!) moves long and, unlike Ground Zero, completely natural. Alberto quite rightly underlines this fact, almost more so than the proposed super grade 9a.

We knew that Alberto is currently on great form (rumours speak of 20 routes on-sighted up to 8b during his summer holidays at Rodellar...) but freeing a new route is a competely different kettle of fish. We immediately asked him what this route gave hims..."Well, it's completely natural, no chipping or drilling. This really is a route I'd be keen on repeating!"
