Alberto Gnerro climbs IRA 8c at the Cubo

Gnerro has completed the previously unclimbed section above “Ira” to produce IRA, 8c.
The Italian crag Cubo (AO) is in the news once more, and once again because of Alberto Gnerro, one of the main activists. Gnerro has completed the previously unclimbed section above “Ira” to produce IRA, 8c. Alberto Gnerro took us through the moves:

“IRA, is the extension of "Ira", and 8a+/8b with a good rest at the end, followed by some hard moves on small holds. I hadn't tried them for two years and so last Saturday I gave them a go.

I reckon the route is very particular as the first section is physical and the section technical and fingery to reach the roof and the finishing moves to the top of the crag. If you're into it you can jump off the top and enjoy the fall without clipping the abseil chain.

Bye for now
Alberto Gnerro”
