Adam Ondra becomes Garda Trentino ambassador

Arco and the Garda Trentino region have always looked one step ahead. Ever since the early 80’s, this region immediately to the north of Lake Garda has been a instrumental driving force in the development of sport climbing, with a series of initiatives that have paved the way for all the rest. These include the first sport climbs and early development of sports crags, the very first climbing competitions at the legendary Rock Master comp and the first local government funded project to further develop the area and consequently make some crags safe for rock climbing. It is thanks to all these reasons that Arco has earned its reputation as the world’s sport climbing capital and it comes as no surprise therefore that InGarda has decided to promote climbing and the region with an exceptional athlete: Adam Ondra.

Ondra’s relationship with this area goes back a long way: as a young child he travelled all the way from Brno in the Czech Republic to holiday at Arco with his family, as a child prodigy he took part in the Rock Master competitions - forcing route setters to rethink the unthinkable at the time - and as a star climber he has always played an important role in the Rock Master competitions, winning in both 2011 and 2015. And of course there’s also the Arco Rock Legends - the sport climbing Oscars - that have strengthened his ties to Arco: 4 Salewa Rock Awards and one La Sportiva Competition Award are unrivaled. Over alll these years Ondra has often returned to climb, to test his skill but also simply to enjoy the unique atmosphere of Arco, the Sarca Valley and the entire Garda Trentino.

The bond between Ondra and this region is now even stronger. "It 's an honor for me to be an ambassador for Garda Trentino" explained Ondra in the press conference on Monday morning "I’ve been coming here for the last 15 years, my development as an athlete started here. Promoting this territory comes natural, because I enjoy coming here and always want to come back, to go back, and this is what I’ll tell those I meet in the future."

Ondra will share his love for this region starting this April, with a tour to four climbing gyms in Switzerland and Germany. Those have the opportunity to climb there will be able to climb with the 23-year-old champion before watching his evening show. What’s more, there’s also an entire weekend climbing with Ondra at Arco up for grabs… Zurich, Stuttgart, Frankfurt and Munich are the first stages of the tour.
