Adam Ondra attempts Lapsus 9b at Andonno, Italy
Perhaps it’s all Jorg Verhoeven’s fault. A few weeks ago the Dutch climber travelled to Andonno in northern Italy to check out Lapsus, to see whether this route freed in November 2015 by Stefano Ghisolfi might become his first 9b. After trying the route briefly Verhoeven stated "“What a route!! 50 powerful moves on sidepulls and underclings with the crux at the very end! Definitely one on the list."
Perhaps this renewed interest in Italy's first 9b is what motivated Adam Ondra to try his luck. Between Sunday and Monday the Czech climber made 7 attempts, falling off the last hard move on a couple of occasions. Just one move from the jug where the difficulties end…
