Will Gadd onsights M9
On 27 January the Canadian Will Gadd made a swift second ascent of Robert Jasper's two week old M9 in Rosenlau, Switzerland, onsighting it in impeccable style.
The route in question is 25m long and protected by 3 bolts and a peg: a thin start is followed by a final overhanging section over a 2cm layer of verglas. He climbed the route in about half an hour.
Will Gadd, renowned for his hard ascents in North America, is one of the strongest mixed climbing specialists . He is currently placed second in the Ice World Cup 2000 rankings, immediately behind the Frenchman François Lombard. He is no doubt a force to be reckoned with this weekend, as the World Cup circuit moves on to Italy for the only bouldering competition this season, theCortina Ice Boulder.
