Expedition grants have long been instrumental in supporting climbers, mountaineers and adventurers explore the unknown and push their limits worldwide, and recently an exciting new grant was created by the Belgian Bernard de Launoit Fondation which aims to support young people in their quest for adventure. Reflecting the passions of the late Bernard de Launoit, the Foundation will award prizes in four categories: visual arts, music, cinema, and, interestingly, mountain adventure.

The Prize for Mountain & Adventure is designed to support those who wish to fulfill their dreams of mountain expeditions, journeys, and adventures in hostile and/or atypical environments. The program is open to all relevant adventure disciplines and candidates must not only demonstrate a spirit of exploration but also present an original project, whether individual or collaborative, with a clear objective. According to the information on the official website, "Originality, firsts, and self-surpassing will be important criteria for receiving this prize."

The grant amounts to a staggering €25,000 and is open to all candidates between 18 and 35 years of age. An international jury comprised of Anselme Baud, Sean Villanueva O’Driscoll, Fanny Schmutz, Paul-Erik Mondron, Arnaud van Schevensteen, Simon de Launoit and Thomas de Dorlodot will oversee the selection process.

Applications must be submitted by February 1st.
