On 8 September six Italian mountaineers departed for Shisha Pangma, Tibet. Silvio Mondinelli, Domenico Di Bartolomeo, Mario Merelli, Marco D’Ercole, Roberto Delle Monache, Antonio Acerbo and Alberto Magliano plan to ski down the 8013m peak

Earlier this year Silvio Mondinelli summited Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world, together with Kristian Kuntner, Mario Merelli, Carlos Pauner, Kobi Reichen. The team climbed a demanding variation along the Normal route up the South Face; leaving Camp 3 at 7900m this route reaches the central section of the wall and then continues steeply to reach the summit at 8568m. The return to Base Camp proved long and strenuous, and almost all members suffered frostbite to their hands and feet. This is Mondinelli's first return to high altitude after rehabilitation.
