Ski mountaineering and Speed Riding in the Georgian Dolomites

The expedition 'The wild steep Chauki Dolomites - exploring- steep skiing- speedriding' in Georgia's Dolomites
At the end of March 2016 the South Tyrolean alpinists Wolfgang Hell, Aaron Durogati, Daniel Ladurner and Alessandro d’Emilia travelled to Georgia to explore the relatively uncharted Chauki Dolomites. After flying from Venice to Istanbul, they continued their journey to the tiny village Juta in Georgia, from where they then continued on foot into the heart of the Georgian Dolomites where they established their base camp at 2700m. Over the next fortnight the alpinists skied a total of 11 couloirs up to 60° that varied in length between 600 - 1000m. Highlights included M-line (60°, 550m), Chauki-line (60°, 650m), Small-line (60°, 700m), Big-line (50°, 550m) and Unexpectedly Line (60°).
