The Red Bull Snowthrill Monterosa, the most important freeride event returns to make the Monterosa slopes tremble from 26 February to 4 March.

 The 2006 seson promises plenty of fresh powder, an irresistible appeal for the Red Bull Snowthrill. The event, considered by many to be the freeride World Championship, now moves away from snowy Franch Chamonix to the wonderful valley of Monterosa Ski, famed for its incredible range of landscapes and breathtaking slopes. The date of the event is still to be defined, as this is subject to weather conditions. However, the Red Bull Snowthrill organisation has scheduled a two month time slot, starting from the 22nd January. Prevailing conditions have now resulted in attention focussing on the second time slot so: hold tight from 26 February to 4 March! FORMULA The 2006 Red Bull Snowthrill Monterosa formula is slightly different from the one applied in previous years. 20 athletes from all over Europe will be invited to take part, comprised of 15 top riders and 5 rookies. The selection of the riders will be decided by the organization on the basis of the technical level reached.Final evaluation also considers those riders who have embodied the freeskiing spirit at their best. THE CALL As soon as there are the right weather conditions, the event will take place. The riders will meet in Gressoney and they will have 5 days to show their ability. The slopes change every contest day, and the difficulty increases each time: 2 runs per day and a just a few minutes to impress the jury. JUDGING The jury will be composed of the riders, who will express themselves at the end of each day via the video recordings. The evaluation criteria are the usual ones for freeskiing: rhythm, control, technique and so on… A partial ranking will be drafted at the end of each day and this is updated daily. At the end of the 5 contest days each total score is evaluated and the Red Bull Snowthrill Monterosa 2006 winner will be announced.
