The Courmayeur-based Foundation "Montagna Sicura" has announced that the two avalanche transceiver training areas located on the Italian side of Mont Blanc, namely at cable car stations at Pré de Pascal (Val Veny) and Pavillon du Mont Fréty, are now open to the public. Installed together with Ortovox, these permanent training areas can be used by anyone who wishes to learn more about and practice avalanche self-rescue techniques.

It is worth noting that, apart from these permanent stations, there are three Ortovox ARTVA Checkpoints in the Mont Blanc massif to check that transceivers are functioning properly. The Checkpoints are located at the Pré de Pascal cable car mountain station (Val Vény), at Col Chécrouit (Youla cable car) and at the top of the cable car at Rifugio Torino.

"With the Ortovox Search Training System" writes the Foundation "it's possible to make efficient search exercises. The transmitters can be switched on and off independently by using the control unit, with which you can turn any apparatus buried under the snow for personalizing the research with increasing degrees of difficulty to simulate a real situation of an accident involving avalanches"

The ARTVA training areas are open every day (in winter) during the lift opening hours. They can be used free of charge but must be booked in advance.

To book the area of for further information please contact the Foundation "Montagna Sicura" via their internet site www.fondazionemontagnasicura.org or by telephone +39.338.6519863.
