Aoraki Caroline Face in New Zealand / Second ski descent by Joe Collinson, Will Rountree, Sam Smoothy

On 21 October 2021, New Zealand mountaineers Joe Collinson, Will Rountree and Sam Smoothy made the second descent of the 2000m Caroline Face of Aoraki / Mt Cook, at 3724m the highest mountain in New Zealand.

French alpinists Paul Bonhomme and Vivian Bruchez have skied the SW Face of Täschorn (4491m) in Switzerland. The new line is likely to be the first descent of this imposing face.

Andrzej Bargiel, Jędrek Baranowski climb Laila Peak

On 10 May Andrzej Bargiel and Jędrek Baranowski climbed Laila Peak (6096m) in the Karakorum, Pakistan. Starting from about 150m below the summit, the two Polish mountaineers then descended on skis.

On 30 April Andrzej Bargiel made the first ascent Yawash Sar II (6178m) in the Karakorum, Pakistan. Having reached the summit via the west face, the Polish mountaineer then made the mountain’s first ski descent.
