A brief report about the Kalymnos Climbing Festival 2011 by Aris Theodoropoulos

Cédric Lachat and Nina Caprez have carried out the first and second repeat of Delicatessen at Punta d’u Corbu at Col de la Bavella, Corsica. The 120m high 8b was established by Arnaud Petit and Stéphane Husson in 1992 and freed by Arnaud in 2001.

During a quick visit to Britain Adam Ondra made the first repeats of two Steve McClure testpieces: Overshadow 9a+ and Rainshadow 9a at Malham Cove. At the same crag the Czech climber also carried out the first on-sight of an 8c in Britain, Bat Route.

Slovenian climber Luka Zazvonil has made the first ascent of Miza za šest or Table for Six 8c+/9a at Kotecnik in Slovenia. Urban Golob provides the report.

On 31/03 and 01/04/2011 Rolando Larcher, Luca Giupponi and Nicola Sartori completed the first ascent of Pompa Funebre (150m, 8b max, 7a+ obligatory). The route had previously been started by Larcher, Giupponi and Maurizio Oviglia up the NE Face of Monte Pellegrino (Palermo, Sicily).

On the same day American climber Chris Sharma added another 9b to Oliana close to Lleida in Spain, Fight or flight, and climbed the 9a+ direct start Chaxi.

The update for all the new routes established on Kalymnos in 2010 and the latest climbs created by Claude and Yves Remy.
