Cervino 150 - the Tales of the Matterhorn videos
The very same stories that, on Friday 17 July 17, went on stage with ‘'Tales of the Matterhorn''. The big night - hosted by Kay Rush with the music of L'Orage - starring Reinhold Messner, Hervé Barmasse, Catherine Destivelle and Simon Anthamatten who shared great stories about the Matterhorn. The very same protagonists who, earlier that afternoon, had taken part in an intense encounter moderated by Mario Calabresi about alpinism and its greater meaning for mankind. Needless to say both events were attended by an extraordinary audience.
The evening encounter was particularly poignant. Messner, Barmasse, Destivelle and Anthamatten managed to touch the soul of the packed auditorium, filled well beyond its official capacity. They moved the spectators as they recalled the events and the characters of the authentic, incredibile and epic story of the first two ascents. And hearing about the other great Matterhorn alpinists was just as moving, first and foremost unmissable Luigi Carrel and great Walter Bonatti. But there was also talk of alpinism today and that of the future... because the Matterhorn and its history should be much more that just a celebration of the past. This promise was sealed with the special ice axe, dedicated by Grivel for this 150th anniversary. An ice axe that acts as a symbol that unites the past and the future. An ice axe as a pledge, so that alpinism and the mountains continue to remain in our hearts!
