Rock Junior 2008: registration boom
400 climbers have already pre-registered for the seventh Rock Junior European Youth Climbing Days due to take place from 7 - 8 June 2008 at the Climbing Stadium in Arco, Italy.
With less than a week to go the great youth climbing festival promises to be a historic sell-out! 400 young climbers have already signed up for the classic international event, organised by the Rock Master Association at the Arco Climbing Stadium. This number easily exceeds all previous records of this meeting which is becoming increasingly international as years progress.
Young climbers aged 15 - 13 from 13 different countries will fill the legendary open-air Rock Master stadium on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 June. The Under 14 Cup will be represented by climbers from Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Great Britain and, for the first time ever, climbers from Croatia, Rumania, the USA and Ecuador.
As always the Rock Junior will be a great party for all, in which fun and climbing are the main ingredients. Tradition has is that the young climbers and their parents will take part in a series of activities ranging from the Kid's Rock to the Climbing Campus, aimed at revealing the secrets of the rocks and nature. Other activities include the "playground" Play & Climb and the Family Rock, the parent and children vertical relay race which summarises the spirit and essence of the Rock Junior event.
Taking part in this year's Family Rock is a truly special family comprised of Didier Raboutou (winner of the Rock Master '89) and Robyn Erbesfield (winner of the Rock Master '94) and their two children Shawn (10) and Brooke (7).. As if to say, two sports climbing legends who will enjoy themselves, together with their children and the other young climbers, playing the game they prefer most... climbing!
