No change at top; leaders consolidate their position in IWC rankings
The fifth stage of the Ice World Cup 2000 was held last weekend on a 30m tower in Kirov, Russia. Once again the Men’s event was won by the Canadian Will Gadd, who thereby consolidated his lead in the IWC ranking. The Frenchman Antony Lamiche placed second, ahead of the Italian Eric Svab, third. Fourth and fifth place went to the Frenchmen Daniel Du Lac and Aljaz Anderle respectively. Their compatriot François Lombard placed “only” sixth, and although he remains 2nd in the IWC rankings, the 78 point gap between himself and Will Gadd seems practically unassailable. Kim Csizmazia reconfirmed her superiority by winning the Women’s event. The Russian Margarita Kolodkina placed second, ahead of the Hungarian Ildi Kiss, third. Kim Csizmazia’s comfortable lead of 83 points in the IWC rankings puts her as prime favourite not only for the final event in Sweden, but also for the entire World Cup. The decisive final stage will be on 10 — 12 March in Are, Sweden.
