The results from the fourth stage of the European Youth Cup 2001 held at Arco
Arco di Trento, Sunday 1/7/2001. Last weekend 60 youngsters competed in the 4th stage of the European Youth Cup at the Climbing stadium in Arco, Italy. The wall, usually reserved for the Rock Master, proved to be an fitting challenge for these talented athletes who, no doubt, will forge sport climbings future in years to come. The Italian Jenny Lavarda climbed just one hold higher than her the Slovenian Natalia Gross to win the Youth A female. Ekaterina Korolkova from Russia placed third. Marcin Wszolek from Poland performed fantastically to win the Youth A male, ahead of the well-known Swiss Lachat Cedric and Felix Roman. Youth B was won by the Swiss Remo Sommer, ahead of his compatriot Daniel Winkler and the Austrian Helmut Worz. In the female event the Russian Evguenia Malamid, placed first ahead of the Lucie Rajfova and Tereza Kysilkova from the Czech Republic. The Russian Maria Belomestnova beat Austrian Barbara Bacher and Isabella Ritsch in the Junior female category. The only athlete to reach the top on any of the routes was Tomas Mrazek. His total dominance of the route astonished all someone to watch out for in the next World Cup. Timo Preussler from Germany placed second, while Adam Dewhurst from Britain placed third. The next stage of the European Youth Cup will be held in Aprica on 13/14 October.
