In mid-October Zhenja Kazbekova travelled to Kalymnos, Greece, where she sent a series of hard routes, including Super Priaros 8a+ at Grande Grotta. The 15-year-old redpointed her first 8a four years ago while in 2009 she sent her first 8a+/b at the Red Stone in the Crimea. This latest result comes as no surprise: her father Serik has on-sighted up to 8b+ (his 2004 ascent of Ghegoro at Italy's Covolo is memorable) and won silver in the 1993 Speed World Championship and silver in the 1999 Bouldering World Cup, while his wife Natalia Perlova won the Bouldering World Cup in 2002. There's no arguing with style and genes.
