The ethics that dictate the climbing on the thousands of sandstone towers in the Czech Republic are extremely intricate. In short though they boil down to three basic rules: routes are established ground-up, nuts and friends are not used in order to avoid damaging the soft rock, and bolts - better still, the huge rings - are ideally placed by hand and extremely run-out.

In this video Adam Ondra establishes "a new crazy route" called Zpřítomnění and graded AF XIa (8b obligatory). Started a few years ago by local experts Tomáš Sobotka and Ondra Beneš at Labské údolí, the crux is comprised of "a desperate boulder problem on the very top of the tower."
