Shauna Coxsey has secured the third ascent of Mito Sit 8B+/V14, the hardest boulder problem line in Sintra, Portugal. The problem follows the obvious distinctive natural line on the boulder and was first climbed by Jun Shiba in 2022, then repeated in 2024 by Will Bosi. Coxsey made quick work of the boulder, taking just two sessions before she stood on the top of the boulder.

Commenting on her ascent, the 32-year-old from Sheffield said: “Mito is one of the most impressive lines I’ve ever seen! The boulder was so much bigger and much steeper than I expected and the holds so much smaller! It’s a striking line straight through a steep face on a huge boulder, the start moves are on holds that are so small they only just work”.

Mito Sit continues Coxsey’s return to the top end of high-end outdoor bouldering after becoming a mother in 2022. In 2024 Coxsey ticked three 8B+ boulders, Fotofobia in Pedriza, Hazel Grace in Gotthard and The Boss in Yarncliffe. Mito Sit is her fifth 8B+ overall after having sent her first, New Baseline at Magic Wood in Switzerland, back in 2014.
