Melloblocco 2006: final info prior to the blues and bouldering
With less than two days to go to the Melloblocco, Jacky Godoffe gives some advice to the 1300 pre-registered...
We're at the starting blocks... or rather, the last bouldering report prior to the Melloblocco. With just a day left before the official start here is what Jacky Godoffe has to say to the Melloblocco populus who are currently reaching the valley described by monsieur Godoffe as a "paradise for the eyes and hell on your fingers". A hell yearned for all boulderers, and a paradise which offers something for all! Over 1300 climbers have pre-registered for the event, which apart from the actual bouldering includes Saturday evening's live Back in Blues Band. As if tyo say that the soul of the event, a mello blue, that leads directly to paradise... We'll finish this report off with a brief "why to be there" by Giò and a final thought: how come the likes of Cristian Brenna, Mauro Calibani, Gabriele Moroni, Marzio Nardi and Giulia Giammarco have never missed out on a single Melloblocco edition? They'll be a good enough reason, won't there. To find out why take time out and travel to Val di Mello on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 May. See you there!! "PARADISE FOR THE EYES... HELL ON YOUR FINGERS!" BY JACKY GODOFFE This is what Jacky Godoffe had to say after bouldering for three days in Val di Mello. He encountered a warm welcome, polite people and a fantastic setting - so much si that he intends to return with his family. Invited by the Lombady Mountain Guides to test and contribute to setting the hardest boulder problems together with Loris Manzana and Mario Prinnoth (route setters of the Bouldering World Cup Boulder in Rovereto on 12 - 14 May) Jacky commented: ÃLoris and Mario have carried out an excellent job, the boulders were super and all i've got to do know is try them!Ã. His advice is simply to "have fun and enjoy!" but for those who want to try the hardest problems he has the following advice: "My favourite problem for the men is Magistrato with its truly incredible move, for the women the most beautiful problem is Il Profeta." Thanks to the agreement between Melloblocco and the Rovereto World Cup there is another pleasant and unexpected surprise: Laurent La Porte, the third route setter at Rovereto, arrived on Saturday together with his wife, two children and friends. Last Sunday the world-class team comprised of Manzana, Godoffe and Laporte tried all the problems. And it proved to be a taxing enterprise getting Godoffe out of the valley in time for the last train back to Fontainebleau.

It's simply too cool! I'll do all I can to be there early, but please keep you eyes on my bag, I'll be in trouble if I loose it! Can't wait to be there, hug you all and toast to being there all together! |
