Climbing meeting at Buoux Face Ouest
Escala'Buoux and the meeting at Buoux to celebrate the lifting of the climbing ban on Face Ouest.
"C'est incroyable, tres beaux, oui, incroyable." This is how Antoine Le Menestrel commented the news about the famous Face Ouest in Buoux being reopened to climbing after hibernating - let's use this term and not others - for 25 years. During our meeting at the Trento FilmFestival the French climber and artist explained he helped re-equip the routes and that the run-outs of yesteryear have been tamed a bit... It's with immense pleasure therefore that we publish the press release of Escala'Buoux, the historic local climbing association which played an active role in the re-opening of the sector and which has invited all climbers to take part in their international meeting which begins this Thursday.

And here it is... a surprise... one we tried hard to keep secret... has now become official! It's official, the west face is re-opened, the routes have been re-equipped. The classics are waiting for you, brushed, cleaned and ready to hear your groans and cries of pain or joy ... The time has come to climb some old classics, or for younger climbers to climb some new routes.
For those who do not want to climb the same old routes or relive old memories... we've also thought about you. New routes of all grades have been added to the sector and now the climbing at Face Ouest no longer starts from 7a!
You are kindly invited to join us at the "Escala'Buoux" meeting on Thursday, May 13 at 14:00 for registration, alternatively come along to Face Ouest at 8.00am on Thursday, May 14.
A big thank you to all who rebolted the routes, the climbers and all those who contributed in reopening the sector. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the Vaucluse section of the French Mountaineering Association FFME for its financial, logistical and human support.
The topo drawings of the West Face will be available during the meeting. Access to West Face is ONLY via the Renard col, which is reached by walking past the Autoroute du soleil sector. Thank you in advance for respecting these rules.!
