Alexander Megos has, once again, taken Spain’s crags by storm with his third-go ascent of Demencia Senil, the steep series of pockets at Margalef first climbed by Chris Sharma in February 2009 at Margalef and repeated by the likes of Iker Pou, Ramon Julian Puigblanque and Stefano Ghisolfi.
Megos’ third-go ascent is all the more remarkable seeing that his first attempt dates back to two years ago - only to the 3rd bolt as the route felt too hard - while the remaining 2 attempts were made yesterday.
Megos also made lightening fast work of Victimes del Passat at the Catalonian crag to finally onsight his first 8c+. Two and a half years after making the groundbreaking world's first 9a on-sight - Estado Critico at Siurana - and skipping both 8c and 8c+ onsights in the process, Megos has now added this degree of difficulty to his list of achievements.
