Video: Edu Marin climbing Valhalla, his 9a+ MP at Getu in China

The climbing film 'Valhalla, cielo de roca' featuring Edu Marin making the first ascent of his huge 9a+ multi-pitch sports climb through the Grand Arch at Getu in China

In 2018 and 2019 Spanish rock climber Edu Marin created what can only be regarded as one of the hardest and most overhanging multi-pitch rock climbs in the world. Called Valhalla, the 380m route first climbs up, then diagonally across, the huge Grand Arch at Getu in China and was first ascended with the help of Edu’s brother Álex and their father Francisco "Novato".

The technical difficulties settle in at 9a+ and although the first free ascent obviously marked the culmination of their combined efforts, it is the entire process that really left its mark on the Spaniards. Their toils and troubles are documented in the film Valhalla, cielo de roca.
