Syndrome de l’oubli discovered on Deuxième Pointe de Nantillons by Mathieu Maynadier & Ladevant brothers
After receiving a tipoff from Bertrand Delapierre who had noticed the line while skiing the famous Vallée Blanche, at the end of February French alpinist Mathieu Maynadier teamed up with the Ladevant brothers Tristan and Louna to establish a new mixed climb on the SE Face of Point 3359m. Located in the Envers des Aiguilles sector of the Mont Blanc massif, this peak is also referred to as II Pointe de Nantillons.
The trio spent the night of the 28th in the Envers des Aiguilles hut, departed at about 6:00 am the next morning and started climbing one hour later. The splendid line follows an obvious gully offering thin ice and mixed climbing for 7 pitches, before 3 pitches of dry tooling up to M7 lead to the top. The climbers began their descent at 19:45, and reached the hut at around 21:00. The new mixed climb has been called Syndrome de l’oubli, is graded 400m/5/M7, and is located to the right of the recently established Hypnotic Lain (Oliver Gajewski, Santiago Padrós 19-20/02/2024) and Sorterriko Koblak (Alain Andres, Garo Azkue 06/02/2024)
