The first three pitches are difficult and psychologically demanding, up thin ice smears and ice mushrooms up to 95°. These are followed by a difficult 4m roof with some suspended drips. This is crowned by a vertical face and another roof with some suspended drips. This is the hardest outing up the Alraunewand.
Getting there
Reach Bad Gastein in Austria. Access
The Alraunewand is easy to reach from Bad Gastein; drive towards Sport Gastein and reach the toll station after circa 15 minutes. park the car here. The face is clearly visibile from here, reach it on foot in circa 20 minutes. Itinerary
