El Capitan, video footage of the enormous second rockfall in Yosemite

After the news and the photos of the enormous rockfall on El Capitan, here’s the video filmed by Peter Zabrok who - as reported - was climbing the SE Face together with Ryan Sheridan and Patrick McRedmond last week.

Last Wednesday the trio were climbing the Waterfall Route and were just above the rockfall section when the first rockfall occurred shortly before 14:00, while on Thursday they had just reached the lip of El Capitan when the second, far larger rockfall occurred. This is the fall documented in Zabrok’s video.

The 58-year-old recounted to have "I felt it long before we heard it." Wednesday’s first rockfall unfortunately resulted in one death, while the rockfall caught on film here slightly injured just one person.
