Rock slave XP 2014, Elba Discovery by Marzio Nardi & Co
"Of all the Italian islands full of rock" explains Marzio Nardi "probably Elba is the least famous, actually, I dare say it's the least known of all. A long time ago rumours about chunks of granite dotted here and there attracted the odd climber to the island, but it's rocks were soon forgotten about, also due to the unbeatable Sardianian competition that, more than 20 years after the first peg was placed, continues to satisfy all climbers. This abundance of rock could have led us to Sardinia and help us discover yet another hidden corner, but we thought that searching for unclimbed rock in Sardinia is like shopping in a supermarket. This is the main reason why Rockslave XP will head to Isola d'Elba in search of those pieces of rock that would otherwise have remained there, waiting to be photographed or to be looked at with a blank stare by some tourist. We'll clearly need to search for the boulders but with the help of some locals we've already managed to find some nice great pieces of granite on which we can vent our creativity and stimulate the curiosity of those who want to contribute to the discovery of this island. An island that is so close to mainland that it can even be reached via a brisk swim.
