Good news come from Covolo, the top-end crag in Northern Italy where young Giorgio Bendazzoli has managed to send his first 8c+, Super Ale. The completely natural route was freed in 2009 by Adam Ondra during one of his Italian incursions, during which the Czech climber send Italy’s first ever 8c onsight.

Bendazzoli’s recent success marks a step forward in his climbing game after his first 8c in July last year, and is also excellent news prior to the Youth World Championships that begin in Arco today. Bendazzoli won the European Youth Lead Under 16 title in 2014, while this season he has already won a stage of the European Youth Lead World Cup in his Youth A category.
