On Torre Est next to the Vajolet Towers in the Rosengarten group of the Dolomites I established the multi-pitch climb Tokyo 2021 with Marco Fiorentini and Dino Vanzetta, my colleagues from the Moena Military Mountain Schools. The route is dedicated to our friend and colleague Alex Toniolli, who tragically passed away on 24/12/2019.

The new route climbs right through the middle of the beautiful, overhanging East Tower, located right in front of the Vajolet refuge. The rock required some attention and cleaning.

Comprised of five pitches, four are challenging and provide difficulties up to 7c+ (IX+ UIIA). Facing east, it can be climbed most of the year, even on days when the weather is less than ideal.

The first free ascent was carried out by Rolando Larcher, onsight and with him being on "Olympic" form, shortly before my departure as technical director of the Italian climbing team for the beautiful and historic adventure of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
