'Petit Pont' added to Petit Dru West Face by Philippe Bruley, Amaury Fouillade, Baptiste Obino

From 26/12/2024 to 01/01/2025, French alpinists Philippe Bruley, Amaury Fouillade and Baptiste Obino made the first ascent of 'Petit Pont' on the West Face of the Petit Dru in the Mont Blanc massif. The 1000m mixed route has been graded ED 1000m M5 6a A3.

After the first ascent of BASE in February 2021, the West Face of the Petit Dru has seen some more winter actions. This time by French climbers Philippe Bruley, Amaury Fouillade and Baptiste Obino who over a period of seven days right at the end of the year established Petit Pont.

The trio began the ascent on 26 December and after a false start decided to share the first pitches with BASE, before continue directly up and breaching with A3 aid the portion of the face affected by rockfall about 15 years ago. Towards the top the climbers reached Voie des Papas and BASE, and summited on the 31st before descending the following day.

Commenting on their Instagram account, they climbers stated they encountered extremely steep and compact rock which, in the future, might well go free.
